Phase 1: Legislation

One Piece of Legislation Per Ward

Selecting Legislation

Phase 1 involves finding legislation that matters to each ward. In order keep things simple, we limit each ward to one piece of legislation. Legislation is picked largely by proof of community engagement. In determining whether a policy is suitable, we look for the following:

  • Ward-specific impact. We are more likely to select a piece of legislation that is a focus for a single ward.

  • Proof of community engagement. We are more likely to select a piece of legislation that has proof of support in the form of raised funds, signatures, email contacts, yard signs, or regularly attended meetings.

  • Strategy. The piece of legislation has to be something that we can feasibly get other councilpersons to support.

We aim for one piece of legislation per ward, but it’s possible some wards may have no piece of legislation. Use the below form to propose a piece of legislation. If you don’t have a specific form of legislation in mind, it is acceptable to generally describe an issue or change that you believe should be implemented.
